carla - I'm sure I have nothing that Freeminds doesn't already have - but if they want anything they are more than welcome to it. Most of what I've got rid of so far is fairly recent stuff. Loose mags are the first to go, then it will be the bound volumes, then I'll go through the books, so there is still time - it's not all gone yet.

kk - I don't know if you remember this or not, but several years ago, we had a talk about only using the recent literature, and that we should dispose of the old books etc, because of the "new light" blah, blah, blah. She also had doubles of lots of bound volumes, books and asked at the hall if they wanted any of them - they didn't and told her to just throw them out.

Some keep their old magazines to compare old light with new light constantly changing.

JH - Yes, I thought of that, but I came to realize that I really don't care anymore! I haven't looked at any mags in so long now that I don't think I'd know what the new and the old light is anymore anyways. Besides, the second there is any new light it's reported on here! lol

FF - Thankfully my dogs don't require paper anymore, but I have kept some mags aside for the woodstove.

mrk - I'm doing a bit at a time - don't want to overwhelm the recycle guy, plus I don't want to alarm my hubby by doing everything at once. He never looks at them either, but he's not at the point I am, so it's a bit each week, plus what I burn. But it is sad to look at how much waste it is.

Do you like Winter?

well, this is the first day of winter.

for all those who love winter snow, ice, slush, slipping and falling, colds and sore throats, frostbite and shoveling, enjoy it,.

so, to all winter lovers, enjoy it !!!!!!

I like some things about winter, same as all seasons, there is the good and the bad. I almost always feel cool/cold, except in the humidity of summer - so the cold is something I have to deal with.

But I love to snowmobile, toboggan, and this year we are trying dog sledding. We have a cabin up north - no running water or hydro and we spend atleast a long weekend there a month in the winter. Almost everything is done outside - I cook over a fire, melt snow for washing up, lots of snowshoeing etc. It is so beautiful when it is snowing up there - no dirty roads to muck up the pristine white snow! But, yes, six months is too long!

Why is it only a JW can do a good deed?

my hubby recently went above and beyond the call of duty at work.

the person involved called his supervisor and let him know how appreciative she was, supervisor emailed hubby with the info and thanked him for what he did as well.. my hubby was really happy with the thanks he got for doing this.

while having dinner with his family he showed them a copy of the email and expained what he did.

My hubby was really happy with the thanks he got for doing this. While having dinner with his family he showed them a copy of the email and expained what he did. His family right away said it was because he was a JW (they live in another city and are unaware of the extent of his "fade"), that only a JW would be so honest etc, etc, etc , brings praise to Jehovah etc. Little do they know that no one at work knows of his JW background.

It was all I could do to bite my tounge during this! It was if no one that wasn't a JW could do anything good for another human.

I went to my first Christmas open house~

what a great time we had.

now i know where the saying "eat, drink and be merry" comes from!

This weekend my hubby and I went to our first Christmas open house! What a great time we had. Now I know where the saying "Eat, drink and be merry" comes from! lol

I do still have a hard time saying "Merry Christmas" though.

WE JUST LOST OUR DEAR GOLDEN BOY

we lost our loving golden retriever, coach, this week.

he has been very sick and we did everything we could for him, but our last show of love for him was to have him put to sleep.

he was only 6 1/2 yrs.

So very sorry to hear of your loss. I had to put my dog down about 5 years ago and it was heartbreaking, but it was the best thing for him, he had broken his back and his spinal cord was severed. Even after multiple surgeries he'd never walk or run again. I still miss him, even though I now have two other doggies. Pets really have a special place in our hearts.
